TEN SIMPLE TIPS TO CARE A MENTALLY STRESSED PERSON

Observance is the key to learn anything. First observe the condition of the person, whether recoverable or need immediate consultation to Psychiatrist. In this lockdown period, movement to health care centre may not be easy.  While all situations may not be same and so grave, observe at different hours of the day and precisely note down.

Talk to the person to know what is the pain? What are the inconveniences or discomforts he or she is facing? Show empathy.

Talk to know the type of thoughts prevailing in his or her mind to note the physical and psychological problems. Don’t comment good or bad.

Is the person remaining frustrated for over 3 to 4 times a day, not talking or less talking? Talk and allow him or her to ventilate the pains, problems, fears, failures and frustrations (2Ps & 3Fs). Problems shared are problems halved.

Mostly stress is brought home due to some internal factors which turn out to be on baseless issues, which are practically not right. These deteriorate health condition without any valid reason. Such unnecessary thinking to be stopped forthwith.

Quality of prevailing thoughts to be checked. Help the person to practice affirmation to release negative thoughts and bringing positive thoughts to live a healthy and happy life. As Willie Nelson stated, once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you will start having positive results.

Tell the person every situation changes over time. Nothing to worry too much. Feelings and situations are dynamic and bound to change in next 3 to 4 months. Think right and remain active.

Think you are better than many people in this world. Everyday think how can you help at least 3 to 4 person to live well and bring happiness in their family.

Have faith on God. Don’t think you are alone. When you support others, they will help you in turn, God will bless you. God gives you problem to strengthen you, not to break you down. Positive thinking is the panacea for all round development.
